The slow cooker, they are widely used in the paleo kitchen. To make life easier for Paleo, because don’t we all want to put a nice meal on the table without much effort?

What is a slow cooker? It is simply a casing with a removable pan inside, which is also suitable for putting in the oven. A slow cooker cooks a dish at a low temperature. Very suitable for stews, soups and meat. The slow cooker often requires 6-8 hours to cook real meat. For slightly easier dishes (a curry), this is often 4 hours. There are 2 settings on a slow cooker: high and low, so very clear.

Due to that low temperature, the nutritional value of the food remains 100%. In addition, the dishes from the slow cooker are often much more flavorful, it is healthier because you do not use fat at all (butter) and another really big plus is that you put your dish in it in the morning and can work with confidence during the day and then in the evening you can sit down because your food is ready!

What should you pay attention to?
Due to the low temperature, the long cooking time and the lid on the pan, all the moisture remains in the pan. So you need much less water, broth or any other liquid ingredient than usual.

You cannot bake in a slow cooker, so meat will never get a nice brown color, for example. You can solve this by briefly baking the meat before it goes into the slow cooker.

You have different sizes of slow cookers 1. Common sizes are the 3.5L (suitable for 4-person household) and the 6.5L (if you want to cook a little more). Note that the food is cooked faster in a well-filled slow cooker than in one that is only half filled.

Another choice is whether you want a timer on it. With a timer, it switches itself off after the set time. After the set cooking time, the pan automatically switches to the keep warm setting. Without a timer, you have to switch off the pan yourself.

I myself have bought a slow cooker at Fonq 2, the 3.5L costs 69 euros there. Here you will find many more models 3.
