Benefits of the low carbohydrate diet
Today, nutrition is an increasingly important phenomenon. Everywhere you hear and read new insights about nutrition. Especially the low-carbohydrate diet often appears on the internet, in magazines and on television. With so much information, it is very difficult to find out for yourself what is really healthy for the human body. In fairness, it should be said that every body is different and each body responds differently to certain diets and lifestyles. Yet there are certainly great advantages to the low-carbohydrate lifestyle, in which you impose a limit on the amount of carbohydrates. To make it easier for you as a reader, we give you very clear 5 advantages of a low-carbohydrate diet. It can also cause major differences for you.

1. You lose weight (more quickly) with a low-carbohydrate diet
It is important to say in advance, how it actually happens that you gain weight when you eat a lot of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are converted into glucose in the body. Our body does not do that for nothing, because the human body needs glucose to function. However, if you eat an excess of carbohydrates, the body cannot use this surplus and the body will store the glucose as a fat reserve and you will gain weight. What actually happens is that when you consume carbohydrates, blood sugar levels rise and insulin is produced by the body. Insulin signals the cells in the body to stop burning the fat reserves. The next step is for the glucose that has entered the blood to go to the cells that need energy. However, these cells become full after a while and they can no longer absorb glucose. The body wants all the glucose to get rid of the blood and will store the remaining glucose as a fat reserve. Too much carbohydrates ensures that you discourage fat burning in the body and create more fat reserves. If you eat less carbohydrates, you will not burden your body with this excess of glucose and you will logically have to deal with more fat on the body.

2. You lose fat and weight quickly with a low-carb diet
Low-carb diets have proven effective when it comes to fat loss in general, but also specifically fat loss in the abdominal cavity. Many scientific studies have shown that people who eat the low-carbohydrate diet always lose the most weight when compared to other diets such as the low-fat diet [1]. Fast and frequent weight loss are important benefits of the diet, as this can help reduce or even prevent the risk of cardiovascular disease in the long (er) term. The risks of type 2 diabetes will also decrease drastically.

3. A low-carb diet can help lower blood pressure
As we all know, high blood pressure is a risk factor for many diseases. You can think of cardiovascular disease, increased risk of heart attacks and certain kidney diseases. A diet in which you eat less carbohydrates and will logically lose weight to a healthy weight will reduce the risk of many of these diseases. A great and important advantage! For example, a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine found that following a low-carb diet lowers bad LDL cholesterol by about 20% [2]. Lower LDL cholesterol levels in the blood reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.

4. A diet with less carbohydrates is easy to maintain
When people start a new lifestyle or diet, the feeling of hunger is often what has a negative influence on the mental plane. It is not a nice feeling to walk around all day with an appetite. Of course it makes sense because your body is used to more food, because you may have eaten too much structurally in the past period. The low-carbohydrate diet can help you with that. Eating less carbohydrates reduces appetite. It is actually very simple, because when you eat less carbohydrates, you will get these nutrients from proteins and fats. These two macronutrients provide less hunger and ultimately less caloric intake.

5. Delicious and easy to prepare meals
Another benefit of low-carb diets is the delicious and often easy recipes you can make. Many people think that you have to go hungry, that you can no longer eat well and that you will miss flavors that you used to like. Nothing is less true!
